Resolving "Request Aborted" Errors in Workpapers

To assist users in navigating Active Workpapers to resolve request aborted errors when adding workpapers to client files

Updated today

Issue

Users may encounter "Request aborted" errors when adding workpapers, particularly BAS lodgments and ICA accounts. This can result in:

  • Failed sheet insertions

  • Duplicate workpapers

  • Incorrect dates

  • Extended loading times

Temporary Solution

  1. Before adding new workpapers:

    • Turn OFF AutoSave

    • Look for the AutoSave toggle in the top-left corner of Excel

  2. Add your workpapers

  3. Immediately after completion:

    • Turn AutoSave back ON

    • This step is crucial for normal SharePoint synchronization

Important Notes

  • Only disable AutoSave when adding new workpapers

  • Keep AutoSave enabled during all other work

  • Safe to delete any duplicate sheets that appeared previously

  • Works for both local and VPN connections

Technical Background

This issue relates to how AutoSave interacts with SharePoint synchronization during sheet insertion. Our team is working on a permanent fix for the next release.
